LIP FILLER SUSIE

West London five-piece Lip Filler have returned with their new single, ‘Susie’. It’s a staple of their electrifying live show, seamlessly blending synth-infused indie-pop with energetic dance-punk, all while showcasing the commanding vocals of frontman George Tucker. His lyrics are a powerful look at the frustration many younger generations feel towards the state of British politics. They explain that this is “a song about post-Brexit Britain. It’s about older generations and the lack of attention they give to issues of the younger generations. The bar ‘Your breath smells like Persil’ is a nod to an old-school method of punishment where you would get your mouth washed out with soap. It’s these conservative patterns of thinking that still linger in our generation through hypocritical politicians and lawmakers, to impact society for the worst.” Be sure to check out their self-titled EP, which is out now. -Dan Peeke
